Beach holidays in Lesvos

If you are looking for beach holidays in Greece, Lesvos is a great option. As the third largest Greek island, it has over 320 km of coastline so there are a lot of beaches to choose from.

From soft white sand to deserted rocky coves, all with their own special charm. Swim in the Aegean Sea, visit the beachside tavernas and bars for tasty food and a cool drink, and enjoy a selection of water sports.

There are many other great beaches you can visit in Lesvos but here's our selection:

Skala Eressos Beach: a long stretch of beach by the cosmopolitan, bohemian resort with soft sand and a good watersports centre. It’s a popular spot for couples and families. There’s a trendy vibe in the centre with good quality tavernas but it’s possible to find a peaceful spot.

Petra Beach: a beautiful bay with clear blue waters, great sunsets and lots of amenities. Good tavernas and bars on the beach and a small harbour with boat trips.

Sigri Faneromeni Beach: fine sand, shallow waters, lots of shells and the most amazing aquamarine waters. This beach is rarely crowded so a great place to visit - even in midsummer.

Vatera Beach: at 8 km long, this is the longest stretch of beach on Lesvos! It has everything - quiet peaceful parts away from it all with no tourists, trendy beach bars and family friendly areas with play things.

Agios Isidoros Beach: in the top ten most beautiful beaches in Greece, this white sand and shingle beach leads to heavenly turquoise water. Delicious tavernas, nice bars and a laid back vibe make this a great beach to visit.

Anaxos Beach: one of the best beaches in the north of the island, it has calm waters and a watersports centre, as well as plenty of bars and tavernas. It’s particularly popular with families.

Eftalou Beaches: beautiful blue flag pebbly beach with rocky surrounds making it an ideal spot for snorkelling. There are secluded coves and a couple of good tavernas closeby.

Agios Ermogenis Beach: a picturesque bay with the small white church of St Hermogenes perched on a rock. The pine trees go down to the waters edge at each side so it feels secluded. Popular at weekends.

Gavathas Beach: a gorgeous sandy bay with a very gently shelving beach. The sea stays warm and shallow for ages making this a great place for families and non-swimmers and it’s rarely busy.

Tarti Beach: a popular beach in the south of Lesvos with amazing clear waters and a laid-back vibe. It’s at the base of a lovely green hill, so very picturesque.

Tokmakia Beach: most people visit the tiny Tokmakia islands by boat and when you do it feels like you’ve travelled to the Caribbean with bright white sand and crystal clear, turquoise sea! The bird life is amazing here.

Tsonia Beach: a red sand beach and relatively unknown but becoming more popular in the height of summer. The water is clear and there’s a cool, relaxed vibe with most of the visitors being Greek.
